Monte Lussari
Monte Lussari is a peak in the Julian Alps, is 1790 meters above sea level, and is located in Tarvisio province in Udine, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy. Where Italy, Slovenia, and Austria meet in the Alps.
This peak offers exciting and adrenalin activities such the winter, you enjoy the ski, in the summer trekking on the Pilgrim’s Path and paragliding.
Reaching the top has two choices: trail walk or ride a cable car that costs 14 euros round trip. From the top of the mountain, you can see and admire a 360-degree panoramic view valley of Tarvisio and the surrounding hills.
The small town welcomes you with its own charms a very romantic, peaceful, and stunning. Feeling bewitched by this charming and breathtaking spot. Both winter and summer are gorgeous.
The mountain is also famous for its Sanctuary, a place of prayers and pilgrimage from all over the world. The Pilgrim’s Path is about 10km by foot. If you are a trekking lover, this is for you.
You can find the chapel, restaurants, cafes, hotels, and stores for souvenirs on the top. Restaurants offer typical food. During our visit, I ordered a “Cervo in salmì con polenta,” a slice of deer meat accompanied by cornmeal. While my husband gets “Piatto Rodorendro consisting of gulasch, frico, gnocchi di pane é polenta,” this unique dish is absolutely delicious, and it is our favorite dish when we hang up in the mountain.
You can also bring your own food if you like wild romance. You can go on your way with your picnic bag and look for a cozy spot. Let yourself be inspired by nature with the impressive mountain scenery.
According to the legend, the Sanctuary originates in 1360, following a series of miraculous events.
It said that a shepherd lost his sheep and found the sheep kneeling around a bush of mountain pine; at the center was a Madonna with Child statuette. The herder took the statuette and gave it to a priest of Camporosso, and the following morning, they found the statuette with the sheep kneeling as before, and the said event repeatedly happened thrice. They reported it to the Patriarch of Aquileia and ordered it to build a chapel on the location. At this point, a chapel stand is newly built, dating back to 1500 and 1600. It is not the original, and there is no trace to locate the old one; perhaps it was destroyed due to weather. That is why presently is a destination for pilgrimages.
Monte Lussari is a unique atmosphere, where every detail gives emotions, sensations, and priceless memories. 💖
